A Note from Ben

Long before an early client called and said, “I’m overwhelmed, and I can’t stop beating myself up,” team members, colleagues, and friends regularly reached out to me with that same SOS message.

My natural response was — and still is — a mindset of “let’s get you unstuck.”

When I started my coaching practice I reflected on many of those conversations and how I helped. From that came my Six Practices for High Performance:

1. Hit pause and pull up.

2. Remember the two things you truly control: your actions and your attitude.

3. Use the power of three.

4. Take people on the journey with you.

5. Let go — or be dragged.

6. Where is your authentic self?

Building a practice for high performance

I’ve pressure tested my Six Practices for High Performance in professional and personal situations with leaders, athletes, and high performers. Think of these practices as a powerful checklist your team can use in any situation; any defining moment they’re facing.

Sessions begin with a Moment of Grounding to increase mindfulness, presence, and focus. Then, during In The Moment coaching, we'll work on challenges — and celebrate successes — since the prior session.

Next, I’ll introduce a new practice with group interaction, capturing key moments on the whiteboard. All sessions conclude with discussion and an assignment for the following week.

Social Engagement

Content from each session will be shared on your group's private social network for review and discussion.

Q&A

Before the offsite: I’ll meet with key leaders to synthesize objectives and outcomes. We'll identify required materials and pre-work, along with expectation setting for participants.

During the offsite: I'll jump in with you and your team, contributing my energy and strengths to keep the team focused while moving the ball down the field. At the end of each day I’ll summarize commitments and next steps.

After the offsite: We'll have a series of follow-up meetings to ensure your project remains on track and you're seeing meaningful outcomes, making adjustments as needed to the original plan.

Great journeys require great stories, and I hear a lot of stories! People typically ask for a quick reaction to their current story OR seek my help in “telling and selling” a more compelling story. 

Unfortunately most stories are, well, unremarkable. The combination of noisy markets and fast business cycles make your story more important now than ever before. If your story is not taking people on the journey with you, you’re leaving them behind.
